Friday, 5th of Av, 5774

Friday is the third day of Week 44 and the tenth day of the cycle of Malchut (Kingship), Tiferet shebeGevurah shebeMalchut, Balance/Beauty within Might/Discipline within Kingship.

Friday is also the eighteenth day of the fourteenth 22-day cycle of the year, related to the letter Nun Sofit (the final Nun). The following verse from Chapter 3 of the Book of Lamentations is connected to the eighteenth letter, the Tzaddik:

18. They dogged our steps [and prevented us] from walking in the streets; our end drew near, our days were fulfilled, for our end had come.

יח. צָדוּ צְעָדֵינוּ מִלֶּכֶת בִּרְחֹבֹתֵינוּ קָרַב קִצֵּנוּ מָלְאוּ יָמֵינוּ כִּי בָא קִצֵּנוּ:

This verse can be interpreted positively as follows:

18. [When] they trapped our steps [and prevented us] from walking in the streets, our end drew near, our days were fulfilled, for our end [the Messianic era] had come.
